Once again the beginning of this book was a tad shaky as it began slightly different from how the first happened but it recovers itself shortly into the book. The story then snowballs and sucks you in. Definitely love the characters and the romance. The action is very graphic.

This book makes you wanting more! It has everything i want in a good book--excitement, adventure and definitely SEXY ROMANCE!! Just to let you kinow this series has nothing to do with demons (as in hell). There is a lot of blood so if you are the queasy type don't read. I am hooked on this series. I have read all 3 and am hoping for more.

No-nonsense Personal Advice!

Love Ms. Thompson's story of fighting "the battle of the bulge." Much of the book is common dietary sense, but her personal touch adds a level that will resonate with readers. I'm getting ready to send this to some family and friends I know will love it. Highly recommended!

I want to take the time to thank Kimberly Thompson. She shared her experiences with how she achieved her goals. As an African American woman I know it is not easy to lose weight and keep it off. I enjoyed reading about reaching her goals and many experiences. I took a chance on purchasing the book and now have many ideas and motivation to start step by step and knowing I am not alone. I have some health issues at this time and will take advantage of the book Thick to fit. My motto a few years back was to have good health and I do now. Next for this Year is a new beginning and good credit, lol and I am working on that. If not this year, by next year my goals will be to start with my thickness to becoming fit. Back into the gym and using my new guidelines. Everyday life is a struggle. It takes one step at a time, find your desired level and know you are not alone, no matter the health level. This book is very much like its well known predecessor, the currently 3 volume Molecular Cloning Manual with which it shares an editor and a similar title (in fact, it could pass as volume 4).
Overall it gives a good coverage of spotted microarray technology starting from the preparation of probes and slides to sample preparation and hybridization. In addition to expression profiling areas covered include uses of microarrays for analysis of chromatin immunoprecipitation samples, DNA copy number determination, and detection of genetic polymorphisms (oligo arrays). Tissue-arrays and micro-dissection techniques for sample preparation are also described. The bioinformatics section is less extensive than the experimental parts, but the chapters on clustering, self organizing maps and databases serve as good introductions to these areas. I especially liked the image acquisition, normalization and quality control sections. These reviews presented their material in a very clear and sensible way.
Each chapter starts with a short summary of the relevant background. These introductions are very concise, straightforward, jargon-free and up to date in their references. They are written by leading experts of their fields. In addition, there are several "Information Panels" with similar qualities, covering somewhat more general background material.
This is a very nice looking book; it is a pleasure to look at and to hold. I am sure every lab that uses microarrays could benefit from it.

Required Reading for Flight Groupies

This book was written many years ago when some of the big jets of today were at best dreams of the manufacturer. It has been updated to the Boeing 747-400, meaning that if the author chooses, there is additional updating that can be done. But even as such I found the information contained therein to be fascinating. The first part of the book gives background to what is in a plane, including the instruments, navigation, principles of flight, air traffic control, and many others. The second part of the book (about a third) describes a flight from London to New York in the plane from the pilot's vantage point; it is at this point that all the information learned in the first part becomes background to what is happening during the flight.

While some of the information given was less interesting to me than other, I would have been surprised if it was any other way. I cannot say whether the information contained in this book is helpful to commercial pilots, as I am merely a person fascinated by flight. But for others like me, at all levels of knowledge, I believe that it is the best book I have read so far on the subject.

This is a very good book for aviation enthusiants

This is the 2nd edition I have owned. The first being a previous edition. In this edition Mr. Stewart is flying the B777. Perviously he had flown the B747. This is a very good book for aviation enthusiants. It describes in some detail the systems of the aircraft, weather, air traffic control, and it finishes with a detailed descrition of a flight from Heathrow London to Boston. It provides good insight to the activities that take place in planning and conducting a commercial airline flight.

Just finished my first whole30! The results are amazing!

This book has simply changed my life. I know that you aren't supposed to weigh yourself on this program, but weighing myself is a motivator so I decided to skip that rule. It's only been two weeks and already I feel so much better. I am more alert in the mornings and my acid reflex is gone. In addition, my migraines seemed to have disappeared entirely. What is really motivating me is the fact that I lost 15 pounds and 10 overall inches in two weeks. I also love the fact that I have the energy to exercise again. I look forward to continuing this program even after my 30 days are up. I just feel that healthy and energetic! I'll post an update once my 30 days are complete. :)

Update: So today is day 18 on my Whole30 journey. I just wanted to let you guys know that there is a lot of cooking involved with this program. I'm actually tired of cooking, which is why I started making large meals to freeze for the week. It actually works out well for me, especially since I don't mind eating the same food everyday. I've also been drinking a lot of tea and water. I feel like it is helping to flush out more toxins from my body. I has been approximately four days since my previous review and I lost an additional 2 pounds on this journey. I have so much energy that I actually am unable to sit still like I used to. I guess I was depressed before going on this journey so the Whole30 has actually improved my mood as well. I go for a walk every day and I've actually started a new workout program!

Update: So I just finished Day 23 of my Whole30 Journey and I feel good, aside from the fact that I caught a cold. Weighing myself today, I discovered that I lost 19.5 pounds so far! I measured myself and immediately noted that I lost 19 inches over all (I measure my chest, both arms, both legs, waist, and hips). I think when I am done with my first round, I'll take a day off then start a second round. I just feel that great overall.

Update: So I just finished my first whole30 round and I have to say that I'm super excited by the results. When I hopped on the scale today, I noticed that I had lost 26.6 pounds. I then measured myself and noted that I lost a total of 31.5 inches (-5" from chest, -2" from right arm, -3.5" from left arm, -8" from waist, -5" from hips, -4" from right thigh, and -4" from left thigh). I am really excited by my results!

I plan to have a celebratory dinner tonight (likely a gluten free pizza from papa Murphy's), then I will start my second round of whole30 tomorrow. I think that I might actually reach my goal of losing 50 pounds by August!

Wonderful recipes and a great program

This book is exactly what I have been looking for. Instead of trying to keep track of all the continual debates on diet, the authors have created a plan for you to find out what works best for you (as well as what makes you feel like junk.) The 30 days were difficult, don't get me wrong, but it was so empowering to resist my cravings! I sleep better, have a better mood, lost weight and fat so now I look lean and muscular! (Confession: I used to work out everyday but once I started the program I didn't have enough time to exercise so no, I didn't reach these results from hitting the gym; it's all about food.)

It is a lot of work and a lot of time spent in the kitchen so I recommend that you wait until the time is right for you. You should give the program 100% effort and if you are too stressed, busy, or just don't have the time to make all of this homemade food you will probably get discouraged and fall off track. But if you think you can fit it into your life, get a support group together and start right away, it will change your life!

Last thing: the recipes are phenomenal! I have been in a cooking rut for the past year and these recipes have cured me. I was so shocked that meal after meal was a delight to eat. So even if you don't do the program this is a worth-while purchase for the recipes alone. Just make sure you actually follow the entire recipe... Imitations, substitutes, and cutting corners will result in food with a lot less flavor. There's also lots of cooking hints hidden throughout all of the recipes that will change the way you cook, and therefore how your food tastes!

It's like Christmas in my Kitchen.

Hi, my name is Meg and I'm a chronic failure when it comes to dieting. (hi, meg!)

The absolute BEST thing about Whole30 is that it simply is not a diet. I first stumbled upon Whole30 after two different friends--from two different friend circles--discussed this 30 day "plan" they were completing. As one girl whined and moaned about not being able to chew gum, I naturally took that as a challenge and thought: I'll do this Whole30 and not be such a baby about it. I read the Whole30 blog, I used Instagram as a means to gather additional recipes and helpful hints, and ten days later, I began day one. Surprisingly, I found it to be the BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED to my little round self. I gained confidence, learned that I do have the ability to say "no" to food cravings, discovered a myriad of new recipes, cured all of my PCOS symptoms (regular menstrual cycles for the first time in ten years and no cysts), and as a bonus, dropped 2 pants sizes. As a child, I was in and out of the hospital with stomach pains and problems (I'll spare all the details) and after following Melissa & Dallas' Whole30, I ate sans stomach aches for the first time EVER. Truly, I did not know that was possible. For my entire life eating a meal meant some level of pain/discomfort while my food digested. Not anymore! Also, chronic migraines: gone!

Whole30 can be a challenge, but it isn't hard. It's worth it.

About this book: LAWD, HAVE MERCY! It's beautiful. I'm leaving it on my coffee table forever. (Confession: I did, in fact, walk back and forth from my kitchen to my coffee table while I cooked tonight because I didn't want to risk getting food on the new pages. It's brand new and I'm in love, okay?) It presents all information necessary to complete Whole30, informs one about all rules, discusses the importance of following the rules, and provides a plethora of recipes and resources. (They went above and beyond here, people.) The photography is amazing. The typography is stunning. The recipes are delicious. And, may I say again that the book is just so incredibly BEAUTIFUL?

About the Author
R.T. Floyd is in his thirty-second year of providing athletic training services for the University of West Alabama. Currently, he serves as Director of Sports Medicine and Athletic Training for the UWA Athletic Training & Sports Medicine Center, Program Director for the CAAHEP accredited athletic training education program, and as Chair and professor in the Department of Physical Education and Athletic Training. A licensed athletic trainer and emergency medical technician, Dr. Floyd is a certified member of numerous professional organizations including the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the Athletic Equipment Managers’ Association. He also retains active membership in the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He represents the Southeast Athletic Trainers Association (SEATA) and District IX of the NATA as District Director to the NATA Board of Directors. He also serves as Member Development Chair on the NATA Research and Education Foundation Board of Directors. Floyd has served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Blue-Gray All-Star Football Classic in his native Montgomery for 25 years, after spending two years on the annual event’s athletic training staff. He is a 1974 graduate of Lowndes Academy, where he worked as an all-sports athletic trainer for four years, before earning a B.S. and M.A.T. in Physical Education from UWA in 1980 and 1982, as well as an Ed.D. in Human Performance Studies from the University of Alabama in 1995. Floyd was named to the UWA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, the Alabama Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame in 2004, and tabbed an "Outstanding Young Men of America" in 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1986. He was presented the Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award by the NATA in 2003 and received the organization’s Service Award in 1996. He received the District IX Award for Outstanding Contribution to the field of Athletic Training by SEATA in 1990 and the organization’s highest award, the Award of Merit, in 2001. In 2004, he was inducted into the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame. He was named to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2005. In 1996 he was presented the UWA Achievement Award by the University of West Alabama National Alumni Association. In 1997, the UWA Faculty and Board of Trustees recognized Floyd for outstanding achievement in scholarship, teaching, and leadership by presenting him with a Loraine McIlwain Bell Trustee Professorship. Previously, Floyd served as President of the UWA Faculty Senate and completed two terms as President of the Alabama Council of University Faculty Presidents.

fantastic book, a keeper, full of excellent knowledge for anyone interested in kinesiology/muscles/exercise

As students we purchase dozens of books because they are required for our courses. However, many of them are just boring, or just collect dust as they are barely used during the class.

However, the Manual of Structural Kinesiology by Floyd has been a fantastic read with excellent information, it is very well written and only covers what is essential to kinesiology students. All the muscles are displayed, explained, with pronunciation for those like myself who have a hard time reading some of these Greek/Latin terms. In the back of the book there is a chart that lists muscle groups precises, so you will better understand what muscles are being used during the most common exercises.

I will end it there. Seeing that you are here, you are probably buying this book for class. This book is worth buying for sure, don't rent it. Unlike other books, this one is something you will want to keep and highlight and book mark for sure. I will be going back and forth to this book for a very long time. I would highly recommend reading it in its entirety.

One of the most important things you will get out of this book is to ALWAYS make sure you have good posture... Stand of straight and keep the erector spinae muscles strong!

Poor Quality of Design

Every single page in this textbook is perforated, causing them to easily rip out while turning the pages. The rental I received had been heavily used and many pages were already torn, causing them to fall out when picking up the book. There were sticky notes still in it from a previous user, but I dare not pull them out because adhesive was very sticky and the paper was so fine. Information in it was good and detailed, but they needed to retire this one before renting it out.

Good Book ( Bad Setup ) ...... The pages are precut sow you can pull them out from the book well thats good if you are thinking to separate pages from the book but if you want to keep using the book for many years it well fall apart in one use. sow keep that in mind...

Visualizing is the key word

This book is not the best college science book I have ever seen, but it is not the worst either. Some of the text is confusing and you really have to read between the lines to understand exactly what the text is trying to explain. The photos in the book are really helpful. Since the book has a lot of pictures from National Geographic it makes the subject more interesting.

As the title might suggest the pictures in this book are amazing! I bought this book for my earth science class, and some of th chapter are easy reads and really explanatory, while others are more complex and hard to understand. So the reading/learning experience from the book (for me anyway) was 50/50.

He is the author, co-author, or editor of more than 40 textbooks and reference books on business and public administration. He holds a doctorate from Temple University and an MPA from the Baruch College of the City University of New York.

Lee S. Weinberg is an attorney and Associate Professor of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author or co-author, or editor of four books and over a hundred articles in newspapers, magazines, and journals. He holds a doctorate in political science and a J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

Amazing book!

Easy to read and interesting, I was reading chapters ahead of where we were in class and continued reading past the required pages. It really sucks you in and holds your attention. Loved it!
